Greetings!
Wow! I can’t believe I’m finally writing my first blog post! This is so exciting!
If you read my About Me page, you’ll already know that I learned to crochet when I was younger and then there was a huuuuge gap between then and me picking up the crochet hook again. I started REALLY simple going back to crochet! I had no idea what the names of stitches were, how to read patterns, etc. After making blankets for my family first, I started looking at other people’s creations online and was inspired to try some of these creations myself. So I found a pattern (it just so happened to be an amigurumi pattern) and went at it….it came out….. well…..messy but I had a great laugh and knew that I had some more work to do LOL.

Yes…there was a learning curve, but I was still very excited because hey…if I can make a blanket, then I can figure this out too! (And so can you!!) So I searched up the stitches involved in the next pattern I attempted to follow. I bookmarked videos that were helpful in showing me how to do the stitches to quickly refer back to them and got to work! There are also a lot of helpful guides online with step by step images on how to do stitches etc.
The Plan
My plan with this blog is to share all of the fun things I come across on this journey. I also love listening to audio books, podcasts, or music when I crochet. I’m not at the point where I can watch TV and crochet at the same time. (how do people do that?!?!) When the weather is warm I venture out to my raised garden and switch to crocheting lighter weight items. Nothing like getting outside to enjoy the sunshine and nice weather. I’m planning to mess with pattern creation (once I figure out how to do that) so stay tuned!!
Crocheting is such a fun journey! Everything I learn, no matter how big or small, feels like an accomplishment. Not to mention, the crochet community is so incredibly helpful! Also I love that men have been into it as well. It truly is a craft for everyone. Even my daughter is starting to learn and (at the time of this post) she’s seven! If you’ve been curious about learning to crochet or learning additional crochet skills on top of what you already know, go for it! Even if it’s in your spare time, it’s so much fun creating new things and trying fun patterns. And you never know, you may inspire others to learn too!
