Springtime Crochet Organization

It’s springtime (finally!) and around this time of year I’m looking to refresh things a bit, especially in my living space. It’s time to get started with your springtime crochet organization!

My springtime organization plan is to go room by room. I donate anything I no longer use and keep only things I need. I dispose of anything that is broken and can’t be fixed. Also, since I have kids that are growing like weeds, I will be sorting through all of their clothes. I know our donation site will be happy with everything I bring them!

Springtime crochet organization can also include switching up what you use for the season. With crochet projects, I switch to lighter items. I do this unless there is a specific request that comes in. Think plushies, thinner throw blankets, and other items that are both fun and functional. Consider your yarn preferences for the current or upcoming season (transitioning from winter to summer yarn weights, etc.).

I’ve recently created a color phase style blanket that is lighter than some of the other blankets I typically crochet. It is perfect for those days when you get chilled by the air conditioning. Check out the free pattern here!(perfect phasing simple blanket)

Springtime Crochet Project Ideas

  • Light throw blankets
  • Decorative pillows
  • Stuffies
  • Tote/market bags
  • Headbands
  • Home decor baskets for organization (think nesting baskets, etc)
  • Shawls
  • Dishcloths/scrubbies for the kitchen

Some of the above suggestions are obviously great all year round. I wanted to make sure I included those as well!

Organize Your Crafting

  • Creative Yarn Storage Solutions: wind up yarn you typically use, decide if containers or shelving is best for your storage needs and space, and organize it all so you can find what you need
  • Check your supplies for anything that needs to be replaced or you are missing and will need
  • Organize your patterns: consider using software (ex cloud-based, etc) or a binder to organize patterns you have come to love. Use tabs, page protectors, and/or anything else you need that works for your organization needs! (I have a free project planner for you when you subscribe to my newsletter!)
  • DIY Crochet Hook Organizers: keep those hooks organized and handy!
  • Organize Your WIPs (work in progress): Lets be real, you know you have a bunch of projects you’ve already started and need to finish, so make sure you have a dedicated space for those projects too

Be sure to clean up that crafting space! Reducing the chaos and creating a relaxed space to craft can help with focus. Clean the windows to add more natural light. Preparing your workspace for lighter/brighter spring projects also helps with inspiration. Move some furniture around to make your supplies easier to reach. Try new organization tools and containers. There are so many options to make your space more inspiring and comfortable.

Spring cleaning tasks like this will help set you up for a productive crocheting season so let’s get to it!

  1. These were great tips! Although I do not crochet some of these tips to be applicable to other creative tasks too

  2. I’m just learning how to crochet, but I enjoyed seeing your list of spring project ideas. Most of them are out of my realm of expertise, but I think for my next project I will start trying to learn how to make scrubbies for the kitchen.
