Welcome to Collectively Hooked! I’m glad you’ve found my page and I hope you enjoy your visit here. I started this page because of my love for crochet and hope to inspire others to learn more about it and try it for themselves. Picking up a new hobby isn’t always smooth, so I wanted to share helpful tips to hopefully make it an easier journey for you.

So what’s my story? I’m Kimberly – a stay at home parent (SAHP) whose career was derailed due to the covid-19 pandemic (not to mention all of the uncertainties that came with it). It wasn’t my plan to become a SAHP. Being part of the administrative side of Health Care was a passion of mine but it seems life had other plans for me!

My focus in the first couple of months as a SAHP was on getting to the difficult tasks that are close to impossible to do when working full time as well as taking better care of my personal health and well-being. My husband is a first responder so staying home was best for my family since schools were shutting down and everyone was getting sick all around us. Once the kids returned to school, while still job hunting, I came to realize that being present for my family and the flexibility of being home when needed was one of the greatest opportunities/gifts that I could have.

Into crafts as a kid, a family member taught me to crochet. I loved creating different things, but then …you know…. life happens! So in 2024 I got back to crochet. Since the start of being a SAHP, in snippets of free time, I’ve been teaching myself new skills, new crochet stitches and patterns, personal development, expanding my personal library of fun books, gardening, and other assorted projects. I’m also a gamer and love to play in my free time!
